The Blue and the Grey: The Life of the Common Soldier in the Civil War
Join the Museum of the Mississippi Delta on September 29 for the first in a series of events commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
At 6:00 p.m., Kenneth Ray of Greenville will have a collection of artifacts from the Civil War period on display and will also have his laptop available for genealogical purposes. Perhaps you will locate a Civil War ancestor!
At 7:00 p. m, a lecture will be presented by Larry McCluney, Jr., National Historian-in-Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, about the life of the common soldier during those turbulent times. The evening will conclude with re-enactors in period attire as soldiers and their wives and a reception including tea and other Civil War era refreshments.
This event is free and open to the public; anyone with an interest in history, and especially an interest in the Civil War, is encouraged to attend.
