The volunteers for the Museum are called the Friends of the Museum. The Friends serve at the front desk, where they greet visitors and answer the phone. They also assist in guiding tours, hosting receptions, mail-outs and other Museum activities.
The Friends of the Museum meet at 10:00 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month and would welcome your interest.
The President of the Friends of the Museum is Barbara Biggers.
Join our group of volunteers who represent the Museum and the Delta to visitors from around the world.
There are two ways to get involved:
1. Desk Worker - The first impression of the Museum of the Mississippi Delta is from our desk workers. Once a month for 4 hours they greet visitors and handle admission to the Museum and are available for questions and to field phone calls. All Friends of the Museum are trained through the Leading by Example program with a staff member.
2. Tour Guide - Former educators and life-long learners make up this group that offers interpretation for the Museum's collection. After training with archeologists, historians and staff, they are the personality of the Museum.
