Nina Cork is a ceramicist and painter who blends traditional sacred imagery with a modern sensibility. After years of working in ceramics, Cork felt drawn to a new path—painting portraits that reflect the beauty she experienced in the holy imagery of her childhood. A self-taught painter, she now focuses on depictions of the Madonna and Child. While her work is deeply rooted in Christian tradition, it also speaks to the universal experience of motherhood. Cork notes, “Every mother eventually sends her precious child out into the world and relies on her faith and prayers.” Her ceramic Queens, while playful and vibrant, represent the enduring power of sacred femininity.

Mississippi Plein Air Painters (MPAP) is an association of painters who gather to focus on helping one another growing artistically while sharing their love of painting outdoors on location (thus the French term, “en plein aire”).  It was established in 2014. In 2024 the name changed to  "Paint the Town Mississippi" and will travel to a new town each year.
If you would like to host the event in your town, email mspleinairpainters@outlook.com for more information.
